The social history of Swaffham and surrounding area from the Stone Age until today

A small, independent Museum for Swaffham and the surrounding villages from the Stone Age to the modern. Run by volunteers the Museum is financed from small entry fees and donations.

Local heroes include the archaeologist Howard Carter, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Knyvet Wilson VC, Jem Mace the prize fighter, W.E. Johns the author of Biggles, and the Pedlar of Swaffham and his dog.

The Museum offers an educational service for schools and the local community and welcomes, by appointment, personal and group research facilities using maps, books, documentation, and artefacts.

There is a well-stocked Gift Shop in the entrance to the Museum which also hosts the Swaffham Information Centre for visitors and residents and offers an event-booking services.

New volunteers are always welcome! Click here for an application form
